OUR CURRICULUM

The Kids Center curriculum was designed by our curriculum specialist and revolves around High
Interest Themes. Each theme contains a collection of activities that enhance all areas of a child’s
development: social/emotional, cognitive, language and literacy, mathematics, science, social studies
and creative arts. Our daily lesson plans are filled with hands-on experiences that invite children to
sing, play, create and learn in a safe and nurturing environment. Theme teaching allows us, as
educators, to relate our classrooms to things that are relevant in our students’ lives. These connections
help to reinforce a young child’s ability to learn about their world. Each week your child will be exposed
to new and exciting educational experiences that include learning centers, literacy selections, circle-time
activities and dramatic play areas.
It is important the thematic units be relevant to the child’s age and experience, so our youngest
children are introduced to themes that are meaningful to them. Hands-on learning and plenty of
sensory activities encourage creativity, build early learning skills, foster language development and
develop fine and gross motor skills for our young learners.
Our preschool aged children continue to learn through thematic units, but the area of study really begins to expand here. The children truly begin to make the connection between information learned in the classroom and real life experiences. Themes become more complex to meet their growing knowledge, interests and vocabulary.
The Pre-Kindergarten classroom is a true kindergarten readiness program. The emphasis shifts to
include themes that are concept based. The children will study math, science, social awareness, art and
music as they work their way through the letters of the alphabet. Pre-reading and writing skills are
developed during this year as well as more challenging math and science concepts. Independence skills
and self-regulation techniques are an enormous part of our daily lessons. Our respect initiative and
social awareness create students who are thoughtful, generous and kind-hearted. When our students
leave our program they are more than ready for the challenges they will face as they begin their formal
education.

Infant Program:

From as young as six weeks we provide exceptional care to meet our youngest learner’s developmental and physical needs. Their days are filled with plenty of love and affection, as well as a wide variety of sensory and movement activities. Our devoted staff be on the floor with your infant stimulating their senses through age appropriate toys, music, movement, bubbles, games of peek a boo and conversations to create giggles and smiles. The room is furnished with cribs, high chairs, swings, stationary bouncers, vibrating chairs & many age appropriate toys  for each infant. All food and bottles to be provided by parents or guardian.

Toddler Program:

Our toddler programs also follow a thematic curriculum which provides for experiences in all areas of a child’s development. As your child moves up into these rooms they will be introduced to circle time, sitting at a table to eat group lunch, the playground, individual, small and large group play, plus many more exciting experiences . Toddlers begin learning basic concepts, such as an apple is red and round, transitional words, simple counting, a couple shapes and colors through activities using songs, rhymes and stories.
As the children grow and learn more about the world around them, our curriculum adapts with them,
providing more in-depth experiences through each phase of learning. Our toddlers really begin to explore having freedom to express themselves through parallel play and individual play. A routine is also created at this age group, each head teacher has a weekly and daily schedule on their classroom wall. These two charts tell you what your child will be learning that week and how their day is mapped out.

All food and snacks are to be provided by the parent or guardian.

We also emphasize we are a NUT FREE school.

Preschool - Pre-K Program:

Our older children are given many more opportunities to explore their world through our diverse
curriculum developed by our amazing Education Director. Many parents have said we are a true "kindergarten ready program". The highly developed program starts in our preschool class with the basics of first name recognition, letter recognition to tracing, basic math and other key educational development necessities including free play.  When your child reaches Pre-K they are ready to begin a more advanced progression in the fields they were introduced the previous year. The most beautiful thing about our program is we have maintained learning through PLAY.  Most importantly they learn in their own way and own time with tactile learning, partners, group play, learning through games and much more. The children have the freedom to ask about and explore their environment all while maintaining structure for circle time, reading, math, group lunch, science, art, music and recess. Implementing this type of play program your child will gain independence, build self esteem and create new friendships that will help the transition to kindergarten.

All food and snacks are to be provided by the parent or guardian.

We also emphasize we are a NUT FREE school.

Enrichment Programs

Through the year our school offers enrichment programs to the children. By offering these programs the children have new experiences that hence their creativity, motor skills, language skills, social skills and so much more. We know how busy life can get and want our KKC kids to have opportunities at an early age. A few of our programs we have offered have been, Happy Feet (Soccer program), librarian read day, farm animals, visit from the dentist and yoga was introduced to our preschoolers. We continue to look for other programs in our area and welcome family members to share any ideas.
